There are many procedures that can enhance the appearance of your smile and which can be considered ‘cosmetic’ dentistry. The most commonly requested and provided cosmetic treatment at Access Dental is teeth whitening, described below. Other cosmetic services may or may not be available at your Access Dental office, and we encourage you to discuss your needs with a member of our dental team or your dentist.

Teeth whitening is simple, affordable, and convenient. Teeth whitening treatments are used to change the color of your tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance your smile. Whiter teeth is an aesthetic concern for most patients, and we offer three convenient ways to brighten your smile: In house teeth whitening, custom-fit teeth whitening trays, and professionally-dispensed whitening strips.

Teeth whitening is not permanent. Touch-ups maybe needed every few years,and more often if you smoke or drink coffee, tea, dark soda, or wine.

In House Teeth Whitening

We offer in-house teeth whitening services. After one short session, you should see significant color changes. The treatment typically takes between 45 and 60 minutes. However, if stubborn stains exist, additional whitening sessions may be required or you may be advised to continue with a home-use whitening system. The procedure involves the carefully controlled use of a high-concentration peroxide gel, which is applied to the teeth by the dentist or trained Registered Dental Assistant, only after the gums have been protected with a paint-on rubber dam. The peroxide remains on the teeth for 15 to 20 minute intervals.

Custom Fit Teeth Whitening Trays

Custom fitted teeth whitening trays are hand crafted by our dental team and formed to fit to your teeth with precision. Using custom fit trays allows you to do additional whitening sessions at home to tackle stubborn stains or quickly touch up your smile. You simply apply a high-concentration peroxide gel to your custom fit trays and then wear them for 15 to 20 minute intervals in the privacy of your own home.

Professionally-Dispensed Teeth Whitening Strips

Whitening strips are plastic strips containing the right amount of whitening agent that is safe and effective for a whiter smile. Whitening strips dispensed to you by your dentist contain a stronger concentration of the whitening agent than those you might purchase “over the counter” at a store. Under the supervision of your dentist, whitening strips are simple to use, cost-effective and offer the most comfortable teeth whitening available today.
